Iridium Plugs for TFSI Engines
The A3's 1.4 TFSI / 1.5 TFSI / 2.0 TFSI / 2.0 TDI engine requires iridium spark plugs — these cost more than copper or platinum plugs but last significantly longer (60,000 km vs 20,000 km). Using cheaper plugs in an Audi TFSI direct-injection turbo engine causes rough idle, misfires, and can trigger coil pack damage which is expensive to fix.
