Buying Used Audi A4 B9 Malaysia — Checklist
Used A4 B9 checklist: VCDS scan. Cam follower LTFT (long-term fuel trim). Carbon cold start. DSG fluid history. Battery IBS coded. EPB working. Quattro: Haldex service record.
A4 Used Car Checklist
- VCDS full scan: HPFP fuel trim data, DSG adaptation values, any stored engine codes
- Test: start from cold and check for rough idle (HPFP)
- Ask for DSG fluid change history — if never changed, budget RM 450–600
- Carbon inspection: does it hesitate at low RPM? (sign of carbon buildup)
Pre-Purchase VCDS Inspection at 4M Car Care
Before buying any used A4 in Malaysia, bring it to 4M Car Care for a pre-purchase VCDS inspection. We check: all stored fault codes across 40+ modules, S tronic fluid condition and adaptation values, battery SOH (state of health), brake pad thickness, timing chain health via camshaft codes, tyre age and pressure, and any outstanding service items. Many sellers present Audis as 'problem-free' when VCDS reveals stored codes from previous faults that were cleared without repair. The inspection fee (RM 180–250) is a fraction of the potential cost of an undisclosed fault.
