Mazda CX-5 Carbon Cleaning Malaysia
CX-5 2.0L and 2.5L SkyActiv-G: direct injection — carbon at 60,000–80,000 km. Walnut blast: 2.0L RM 950–1,200; 2.5L RM 1,100–1,500. 2.5T higher injection pressure = slightly less carbon per km but still needs service. Recommend every 80,000 km.

CX-5 Carbon Cleaning
Both 2.0L and 2.5L SkyActiv-G are direct injection — carbon buildup is a certainty by 60,000–80,000 km. The 2.5L has a larger displacement and slightly higher carbon rate. Walnut blast: RM 950–1,250. Do it before symptoms appear — rough idle and misfire codes indicate heavy buildup that takes longer to clean.
Carbon Buildup — Mazda SKYACTIV-G Malaysia
SKYACTIV-G engines use direct injection — intake valve carbon buildup can occur over time, especially in city-driven vehicles (KL/PJ short trips). Mazda partially mitigates this with a dual injection system on newer models (combining port and direct injection). For older SKYACTIV-G (single direct injection): carbon cleaning via walnut media blasting is recommended every 60,000–80,000 km. Cost: RM 500–900 at a specialist workshop. Signs: rough idle, cold-start hesitation, slight power loss. Regular 30-minute highway drives at moderate revs help prevent soft carbon from hardening.
