Perodua Alza Carbon Cleaning Malaysia
Perodua Alza · 2022–present (D55L)
Perodua Alza 1.5L NR-VE uses PORT injection — fuel washes the intake valves at every combustion cycle. NO carbon buildup on intake valves throughout the engine's life. No walnut blast service needed. Throttle body cleaning at 60,000–80,000 km (RM 80–120) is the only intake-related service.
Carbon Buildup in Malaysian Urban Use
The NR-VE uses port fuel injection (not direct injection), so carbon buildup on intake valves is less severe than turbocharged direct-injection engines. However, short urban trips without occasional highway runs accumulate combustion deposits. Every 6 months, take the car on a 30-minute highway run at 3,000+ rpm to burn off deposits. Carbon cleaning (walnut blasting) is rarely needed on Perodua engines — be skeptical of workshops recommending it unnecessarily.
