Toyota Innova Brake Disc Warping & Replacement Guide
Innova brake disc warping common after heavy load downhill braking. Steering wheel vibration when braking is the key symptom. Costs and tips.

Innova Brake Disc — Warping and Replacement
Brake disc warping on the Innova is common after emergency braking from highway speeds with full passenger load. The heavy vehicle mass generates significant heat — if brakes are applied hard repeatedly on a descent, disc temperatures can exceed safe limits. Symptom: steering wheel pulsation when braking. Minimum disc thickness: front 26 mm (new 28 mm), rear 14 mm (new 16 mm). Replacement cost: front pair RM 350–600, rear pair RM 280–450.
Brake Disc — Malaysia Road Conditions
Malaysia's frequent road humps and potholes accelerate brake disc distortion. Warped discs cause pulsation through the brake pedal — check at every brake pad change. Minimum disc thickness is stamped on the disc; replace if below minimum. For Hilux/Fortuner with heavy loads or towing, vented rear discs are preferable to drums for heat dissipation. Budget RM 150–350 per disc at independent workshops. Always replace in axle pairs.
