Toyota Rush Spark Plug Guide

Rush Spark Plugs — Simple Petrol Maintenance
Rush 2NR-VE uses 4 spark plugs. Copper plugs last 40,000 km; iridium plugs last 80,000–100,000 km. Worn spark plugs cause rough idle, increased fuel consumption, occasional misfires (P030x codes), and harder cold starts. Replacement is straightforward — all 4 plugs are easily accessible on top of the engine. Recommended: NGK ILZKAR8G6E (iridium, 80,000 km rating). Cost: RM 150–260 for a full set of 4 at our workshop.
Spark Plug Selection — Toyota Malaysia
Toyota petrol engines use NGK or Denso iridium spark plugs rated for 60,000 km — copper plugs gap faster and are not recommended for modern VVT-i engines. For CVT models, misfires under light throttle can cause CVT surging — often a spark plug issue on high-mileage cars. Budget RM 25–50 per plug (4 for inline-4, 6 for V6 Alphard/Vellfire/Harrier). Always gap-check new plugs before installation. Iridium plugs should not be gapped with feeler gauges — use a coin-style gap tool.
