Touareg gen 1 (7L, 2002–2010): rare in Malaysia. Gen 2 (7P, 2010–2018): some units. Gen 3 (CR7, 2018+): current Malaysia spec — 3.0 V6 TSI, air suspension standard, larger wheelbase. Gen 3 most recommended for reliability.

- 7L (2002–2010): V6/V8/V10/R50 — very old, complex, avoid unless dedicated enthusiast
- 7P (2010–2018): V6 TSI/V6 TDI — more practical, air suspension optional on some trims

Which VW Generation to Buy in Malaysia
Engine and gearbox generation matter more than model year. Avoid pre-2012 EA888 engines (chain tensioner risk) and early DQ200 dry-clutch DSG (post-2014 units are significantly improved).
