When choosing a used Q5 in Malaysia, the engine generation is more important than the year. Early EA888 Gen 1/Gen 2 variants (pre-2012) carry timing chain tensioner risk regardless of mileage. Gen 3 and Gen 3B engines (post-2012/2015) are significantly more reliable.
