Proton Power Steering — EPS vs Hydraulic
Newer Proton models (X50, X70, X90) use Electric Power Steering (EPS) — maintenance-free, no fluid. Saga and older Persona variants may use hydraulic power steering with power steering fluid (check cap). For hydraulic systems: check fluid monthly, flush every 2 years or 60,000 km. EPS issues: warning light (often a sensor or motor fault — PSC scanner needed), heavy steering at low speed (low battery voltage causing EPS assist reduction). Do not ignore EPS warnings.
