Air suspension is standard on the Q8 and must be maintained actively. The Q8 is heavier than the Q7 (due to the coupe roofline and extra equipment), which puts more strain on the air compressor. 48V MHEV Complexity & ZF Fluid Neglect
The Q8 55 TFSI 48V mild hybrid system adds a BSG (belt-starter-generator) that handles start-stop functions and energy recovery. The BSG belt tensioner should be inspected at 80,000 km — wear here is often silent until the BSG stops functioning. ZF 8HP gearbox fluid: ZF LifeGuard 8, every 60,000 km. Neglected ZF fluid leads to harsh downshifts and eventual valve body wear. Both Torsen centre diff and rear diff require SAF-XO every 60,000 km — often the most-skipped items.
