Mazda specifies DOT 3 brake fluid as minimum — but DOT 4 is strongly recommended in Malaysian conditions for its higher boiling point (230°C dry vs 205°C for DOT 3). Malaysia's humidity accelerates moisture absorption in brake fluid, lowering the wet boiling point — fluid must be replaced every 2 years regardless of mileage. Brake fluid flush costs RM 100–180 at independent workshops. Check fluid level and colour monthly; dark brown fluid indicates it is overdue. Never top up with DOT 5 (silicone) — it is not compatible with Mazda's rubber seals.
