Oil Leak Diagnosis — Mazda SKYACTIV
Common oil leak points on SKYACTIV-G engines: (1) Valve cover gasket — most common, shows as brown residue on top of engine or burning smell; (2) Crankshaft front seal — leaks onto the accessory belt area; (3) Oil filter housing O-ring — often overtightened and cracked at DIY oil changes. For SKYACTIV-D diesel: additional leak points include the turbo oil feed pipe and EGR cooler. Valve cover gasket sets: RM 50–100 parts only; workshop labour RM 150–250. Any oil leak must be fixed promptly on SKYACTIV engines — low oil level combined with extended intervals can cause premature timing chain wear.
