Malaysian Roads and Filter Clogging
Malaysian roads — especially urban areas in KL, PJ and Johor Bahru — generate significant road dust that clogs air filters faster than European conditions. A clogged filter reduces turbo performance on the Golf's 1.2 TSI / 1.4 TSI / 1.5 TSI / 2.0 TSI (GTI) engine and increases fuel consumption. VW's Longlife recommendation of 30,000+ km for air filter replacement is too long for Malaysian urban driving.
