VW Group Oil Approval — What to Look For
The Golf's 1.2 TSI / 1.4 TSI / 1.5 TSI / 2.0 TSI (GTI) engine requires VW Group approval oil (VW 504 00 / 507 00 or VW 508 00 / 509 00 for newer variants). Generic 5W-40 does not meet the additive requirements and accelerates injector and timing chain wear. Malaysia's high ambient temperature makes specification compliance more critical. Always check the VW Group approval code printed on the oil bottle — not just the viscosity grade — before any oil service on your Golf.
