Disc Rust and Warping in Malaysian Humidity
High humidity in Malaysia causes brake discs to surface-rust overnight or after rain — this is normal and clears after a few brake applications. Concern yourself with disc minimum thickness (stamped on the disc edge), deep scoring grooves and warping felt as pedal pulsation at highway speed. On the Golf, always replace pads and discs as a pair when either is at the wear limit. Using quality aftermarket coated discs (Brembo, DBA) reduces surface rust and improves wet-weather braking significantly.
