The Tiguan's TSI direct-injection engine cannot wash intake valves with fuel — carbon builds up on valve backsides over time. By 60,000–80,000 km of KL city driving, deposits are typically 3–5mm thick, causing rough idle, hesitation and reduced fuel economy. Walnut blasting (media blasting with crushed walnut shells) removes deposits without removing the cylinder head.
