Audi A5 Workshop Cases Malaysia — 4M Car Care
Real A5 cases: A5 8T 2.0T DQ200 58,000 km low-speed judder — fluid due at 40,000 km, never changed. Fluid flush + VCDS recalibration RM 800, partially resolved (mechatronic wear). Advised owner on trade-in. B9 A5 2.0T 72,000 km rough cold idle — carbon confirmed via borescope. Walnut blast RM 1,050, idle restored. S5 8T 88,000 km HPFP fault — cold start stutter, P0087. HPFP replaced RM 2,400, resolved.

Case 1: A5 B9 Sportback — HPFP Cam Follower (58,000 km)
A5 B9 45 TFSI, 58,000 km: customer reported intermittent rough idle and occasional P0087 (fuel pressure low). VCDS confirmed fuel pressure sensor data borderline. Before condemning HPFP, we inspected the cam follower — found 0.8mm wear (limit is 0.5mm). Replaced follower (RM 320) only, cleared adaptation. Engine returned to normal fuel pressure immediately. If we had jumped to HPFP replacement, cost would have been RM 2,200+. Cam follower first, always.
Case 2: A5 B9 — DQ381 + Carbon Double Service (75,000 km)
A5 B9 Sportback, 75,000 km: owner noticed slightly rough gear engagement and reduced fuel economy. VCDS: DQ381 mechatronic adaptation at 78% limit (fluid never changed). Carbon inspection confirmed heavy buildup on intake valves. Combined service: DQ381 fluid (RM 520) + walnut blast (RM 880) + brake fluid (RM 150). Post-service: smooth shifts, economy improved from 15 to 13.5 L/100km city. Mechatronic adaptation reset to 12%. Owner delighted with the difference.
