Audi A5 Coolant Malaysia
A5: G12+ (pink) or G13 (lilac) coolant only — do NOT mix. Change every 4 years or 80,000 km. Turbo TFSI: coolant temp sensor and thermostat failure can cause overheating warnings. Malaysia cost RM 300–500. Water pump on 2.0 TFSI: inspect at 80,000 km. Early A5 8T: electric water pump failure — common, RM 600–1,200.

Electric Water Pump Failure — Malaysia Risk
The 2.0 TFSI (B9) / 45 TFSI engine in the A5 uses an electronically controlled water pump. In Malaysia's high ambient temperatures, the pump runs longer and works harder than in Europe. Early failure signs — slight temperature gauge rise, intermittent cooling system warnings — are detectable via VCDS before complete pump failure. Proactive replacement at 80,000 km is cheaper than an overheating repair which can warp the cylinder head. At 4M Car Care every major service on the A5 includes a cooling system pressure test.
